If I could give Jason and Safari travel services 10/5 stars I would. From the start Jason was professional and knowledgeable. He responded promptly to my questions and was able to tailor my trip within the schedule, budget, and time constraints of myself and my friend. I had two wishes for this trip: to see the tree climbing lions and to go gorilla trekking. Both were accomplished with our amazing guide and driver Abdul.

I was recommended to book with Jason by the executive director of the NGO I was interning with and he did not disappoint! Jason was very helpful and professional from the beginning, tailoring our itinerary to our exact wishes. He was quick to respond to all of our inquiries and concerns and was always respectful in his replies. Even though he didn’t drive us, he made sure to greet us and then met up with us again at the end of our trip. He was receptive to the feedback we provided on the accommodations as well. Our driver, Abdul, was the absolute best! I cannot stress it enough that you should request Abdul to be your driver!

Highlights of the Western Border – I’d do it again!
While I was hesitant to book directly with Jason as he did not yet have booking capability on TripAdvisor, I am so very glad I took the chance and booked with him directly.
Things I care about most when traveling with a guide – Safety, knowledge, experiencing the culture and collegiality of our guide/companions. Jason scored exceptionally in all categories. I arrived as a guest and left as a friend. I loved supporting a local business and I felt safe and in capable hands throughout the long distances we covered. He was gracious, considerate, knowledgeable and a genuinely nice guy to spend about 9 days with. It was clear that he is known and liked everywhere we went. We had an itinerary but Jason was highly flexible if we wanted to stop and see something, make a change, enjoy something a little longer, etc. I also liked that since he is a local guide versus a corporate one, we were able to stay in any hotel versus those owned by the specific agencies. This was helpful when wanting to avoid early morning drives to park entrances, significant road closures and construction, or to use a brand new local lodge that was too small for the large tour companies.

Ten amazing days in two amazing countries
Jason met me at the Kigali airport and provided a nice overview of our trip on the way to the hotel. We visited the genocide museum and various markets in Kigali, Akagera and Volcanoes National Parks in Rwanda. Kakuru was our guide for this portion of the trip, providing insights on history, culture and wildlife. Even our misfortune, two flat tires, turned into opportunities to see how problems get solved. He did a great job and got us back on the road quickly.
Alonso took over in Musanze and was our guide for the balance of the trip. In addition to his knowledge of Rwanda, Uganda and the region, he was an expert on animals as well. He navigated through towns and villages as we visited Bwindi and Queen Elizabeth parks. On a morning safari drive he found a pride of lions on the hunt. He carefully got us in a position to observe without interfering. Truely amazing! He was also patient as we asked many questions and was eager to share his knowledge and opinions.
We had an outstanding visit and I would highly recommend Jason and his team. In fact, I hope to call upon their services again myself.

Incredible trip with an incredible team!
Jason’s team was incredible from start to finish. Between airport pickups, transport between destinations, and organized trips they really stood out as accommodating and knowledgeable. We were fortunate enough to get to work with Alonso for a majority of our trip. Alonso answered every question we had and was extremely receptive to any requests we had. His background in wildlife made him a best in class safari guide, helping us see lions, elephants, and many other animals on a short, 1 day safari trip. Everywhere we went, Alonso made sure to take care of us and answer any questions we might have. Our entire itinerary was seamless and well designed, but our experience with Alonso made the trip truly special. His knowledge, friendliness, and warmth made our experience with him one of the highlights of our trip. Cannot recommend highly enough-you want to use this team for any trip you are planning!
