Panoramic views from the restaurant and lounge at Isunga Lodge make this the perfect place to relax, read, enjoy a drink or just catch up with friends. In the evening, enjoy a campfire under the stars and you may be lucky enough to hear the chimpanzees calling from Kibale Forest, below the lodge.
Isunga Lodge has a unique position: beside the rainforest, we are also in the midst of Fort Portal and Kabarole’s crater lake area, making it the perfect base for exploration of this wonderful region.
In the stunning rainforest of Kibale you can track wild chimpanzees and also encounter some of the other 12 primate species, including red-tailed monkey, black and white colobus, red colobus, olive baboon and grey-cheeked mangabey. Kibale Forest is also an incredible place for birders with around 375 species recorded.
This area is great for getting out on foot and exploring. For those who prefer two wheels, you can also explore the beautiful landscape around Isunga Lodge and the crater lakes by guided mountain bike tour. Cycle on quiet tracks through small villages and farms. See the crater lakes and enjoy wonderful views of Kibale Forest and the Rwenzori Mountains.
You can also get out on the water. Hire Isunga Lodge’s inflatable kayaks and go explore one of the nearby crater lakes.
