The Haven is located in a beautiful spot right on the Nile River. We stayed in the family suite and used the conference supplies. The suite was comfortable and large, and the staff was SO helpful getting us set up for our conference. They continued to be great throughout our visit and made sure they took care of all our needs. They were very accommodating and kind! The suite had an amazing view of the river. The food was very nice (especially the breakfast). We would highly recommend The Haven!

Room was excellent with good wifi, incredible view from the bed and solar hot water. Good food and variety. Incredible wildlife – saw countless species of birds, entertained by red-tailed monkeys and river otters, and the only soothing noise was from the rapids on the Nile close by. Could not recommend highly enough. Great boat trip from the hotel; white-water stuff and horse-riding all quite close by.

The Haven is a peaceful, relaxed and well-maintained river lodge. Enjoy the tranquility and breath-taking view over the starting point of rafting at the White Nile’s first waterfall. Leave the strains of town life behind as you gaze at the gently flowing water of the longest river in the world.
The restaurant and bar in the centre of the lodge overlook the mighty River Nile and the waterfall. Watch the Fish Eagle, Fish Otters, Monitor Lizards, Monkeys and incredible bird species from the spacious terrace as you enjoy our delicious food. The Haven is lush all year round and comparatively cool, thanks to the microclimate of the waterfall. Feeling the heat? Take a dip in the lodge’s swimming pool (for overnight guests only) or even the river itself!
The Haven can accommodate a combined total of 60 people in our honeymoon suite, bandas, cottages and tents. Our three conference rooms offer all the professional facilities you need and expect to host for business meetings.
The Haven Eco River Lodge prides itself on its environmental credentials. The lodge is solar-powered and provides 24-hour electricity, and hot UV-filtered spring and rain water. The lodge also offers free and reliable WiFi internet.
Location
The Haven is approximately 20 km north west of Jinja on the west bank of the River Nile (GPS: N 00° 32,561′ E 33° 05,375′). We are less than two hours’ drive from Kampala (when taking the Gayaza Road towards Kayunga) and four hours from Entebbe International Airport. We have two air-conditioned taxis (Toyota Premio and Townace Noah) which can bring you to The Haven.
Things to do: activities at The Haven
Relax in the comfortable grounds of our eco river lodge or take part in some of the many activities that we provide at the lodge or outside The Haven.
Be inspired by the long list of leisure and adventure activities available at The Haven. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how many of them are free! Swimming, volleyball, football, birdwatching, badminton, table tennis, pool table, table tennis, frisbee, hammock, campfire (our “African TV”), sandpit, swings and Jinja’s best children’s play area are just some of our free recreational activities available to guests. Fishing on the River Nile, a birdwatching cruise on the river, canoeing, mountain biking, village walks, sunset cruises can be arranged here at The Haven. We can also arrange massage, horse riding, quad biking, white water rafting, kayaking, Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP), kayak tours, speedboat ride and bungee jumping!
Witness the villagers’ traditional and simple lifestyle, which has changed very little over the past century. Spot the fish traps, watch fishermen at the rapids below the restaurant at The Haven and see how local people work the fields. The River Nile is excellent fishing for Tilapia, Yellowfish and Nile Perch. Rent some fishing tackle for a small fee and try your luck down at the rapid. For the really keen, enjoy a few hours on the river on a private fishing cruise. Boat rental (for maximum five people) includes fishing equipment and guide.
Things to do: extra activities that start from The Haven
We can arrange a range of adventure activities while you are staying at The Haven: grade 5 white water rafting, family float on the River Nile, bungee jumping, horse riding, quad biking, tandem kayaking, Source of the Nile kayak tours, Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) tours and speedboat ride.
Many tours start from the riverbank at The Haven on a peaceful section of the River Nile. These activities are provided by an external company, Kayak the Nile and NileSUP.
There’s no place quite like the outdoor restaurant at The Haven Eco River Lodge. Here you can unwind over a cold drink while enjoying fantastic views of life on the River Nile. Enjoy a drink from our fully-stocked bar while listening to the mesmerising sounds of the rapids.
The Haven Eco River Lodge serves European-style cuisine with ‘a touch of Africa.’ Our continental breakfast is legendary!
Non-resident clients are welcome to eat at our restaurant after making a reservation.
Accommodation at The Haven
Our four Luxury Bungalows are spacious twin/double bungalows and are all en suite (self-contained), with a cosy reading area. Enjoy your private shaded terrace with a swinging couch and a great view overlooking the rapids. Our two Luxury Bandas are twin / double / triple traditional thatched huts and en suite (self-contained). Each has a shaded terrace and a view of the River Nile.
This Family Bungalow can sleep up to six people and is en suite (self-contained). Family Suite No. 10 is the biggest house on the compound and overlooks the calm waters of the River Nile. Its location is more secluded and private than the rest of The Haven’s accommodation.
The Haven is a wonderful honeymoon destination
Our honeymoon suite is in an intimate and private setting overlooking the rapids. It is the furthest building from the main lodge, guaranteeing you privacy. It contains a king-size bed, jacuzzi, swinging couch and large terrace. The en suite bathroom has a spacious shower that overlooks the river. From the jacuzzi in the living room, you can enjoy an unusual bath experience overlooking the rapids of the Nile. The honeymoon package includes a complimentary private boat cruise and a bottle of sparkling wine.
Camping on the River Nile at The Haven’s well-equipped campsite
The campsite is situated on a leveled area with grass lawn overlooking the calm River Nile. Hire our Lazy Camping tents where all bedding is provided and your tent erected for you or bring your own camping equipment.
The camp site has barbecue facilities and an exclusive sanitary block with 24-hour solar-powered electricity, free Wi-Fi and hot water. In the restaurant, we provide charging stations and USB chargers.
No music or dogs are allowed on the camp site.
Conference facilities
Based on requests from a number of companies and NGOs, we have created one large indoor conference room and two outdoor conference areas. The meeting facilities are set in a quiet location overlooking the river with the latest meeting room technology and WiFi, supported by the professional service from our lodge staff.
