Do you run a tourism business in Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya or Tanzania?
What are the advantages of advertising on Diary of a Muzungu?
Launched 2008, Diary of a Muzungu is Uganda’s best-known travel blog with readers from across the region and internationally. I can’t promise you enquiries – that depends on many factors – but many advertisers have been in the Directory for several years in a row. They appreciate the extra visibility (and being associated with a trusted travel info resource). Having your own page in the online Travel Directory (or attending one of my training workshops) means you are ‘front of mind.’
How and where do we promote the Travel Directory?
In 2024, marketing initiatives have included:
- Updated blog posts. Popular articles like Uganda tourist visas and travel health at Entebbe Airport all link to the Travel Directory, helping to promote advertisers.
- The East Africa Travel Podcast by Diary of a Muzungu. Season 1 has 20 episodes, all here on the blog, as well as Apple, Spotify and all podcast directories, helping to attract international listeners (and would-be travelers). I use the podcast to promote the Travel Directory. Have you listened yet? 🌳🦅🦋🐘
- Look for Diary of a Muzungu’s advert in The Eye Magazine Uganda along with my articles about Kampala, Jinja, Entebbe, Fort Portal and the Equator.
- The modestly titled “Uganda Safari” by Andrew Roberts is a 300+ page guide to Uganda’s geography, wildlife, history and culture. Edition 3 is out soon (with a nice little mention about Diary of a Muzungu in the resources section). Contact me for info about how and where to buy this superb book.
- Fodor’s Complete Guide to the African Safari. In 2025 I will be touring Uganda to update the Uganda chapter of this renowned American guidebook (for the third time). Want me to visit your lodge or tourism destination? Let’s chat to see if it fits the guidebook profile.
- New training materials: I have co-developed a nine-module digital marketing training curriculum for the tourism industry. In 2024, I joined the team of sustainable tourism trainers. Advertise in the Travel Directory on Diary of a Muzungu and I can help you become a more sustainable business and help shape your digital presence.
