Le Bambou Gorilla Resort is a popular mid-range lodge just 20 minutes drive from the starting point for Rwanda’s gorilla trekking. The banda accommodation is made of volcanic rock and the gardens are full of bamboo and colourful flowers.
Hotel Muhabura in the town of Musanze (20 minutes’ drive from the start of the gorilla trekking in Kinigi) is a tried and tested destination with pedigree primatological connections. For a premium, you might decide you want to book cottage number 12, where famous primatologist Dian Fossey regularly stayed between visits to the Virunga mountains.
